ACT conducted its annual business meeting at the sidelines of the International Surgical Week 2024 on 28 Aug 2024.
The meeting opened with an address by the President of ACT 2024, Prof Amit Gupta, welcoming the broad representation covering China, India, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Philipines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The following areas were discussed.
Research Areas: Encouraging member states and hospitals to join a international open trauma laparotomy GOAL study, performing a review of pan-asian trauma registries and setting up of a multiorgan failure in trauma registry.
Educational Efforts: ACT together with IATSIC will launch an inaugural combined webinar in Jan 2025. ACT would continue with bi-monthly seminars with different member states hosting each seminar. 1.5 hours long, focusing on trauma education for residents, surgical tips, emerging research, and trauma systems. The focus will include a broader range of specialities including neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, critical care and nursing. The executive committee will release the schedule in the coming months.
Social Media Engagement: Will broaden efforts to update the website and linkedin pages and post articles of relevance and focus on highlighting upcoming trauma research from Asia
Incorporation: Philippines, India and Singapore representatives will explore the possibility of formal registration of ACT within these locales and update the Exco on the most feasible option.
