ACT at the 21st PSST Annual Convention — Actions Across the Archipelago

The Asian Collaboration for Trauma (ACT) was proud to be a featured partner at the 21st Annual Convention of the Philippine Society for the Surgery of Trauma (PSST), held on June 10–11, 2026, under the theme “Actions Across the Archipelago: Standardizing Trauma Care Beyond Borders.”

This landmark event brought together trauma surgeons, military medical officers, and critical care specialists from across Asia and beyond, reaffirming PSST’s commitment to advancing trauma care across the Philippine archipelago — and the broader region.

ACT Session: Critical Decisions, Collective Expertise

The highlight for ACT was a dedicated panel discussion on Day 1:

Session 4 — “Critical Decisions, Collective Expertise: Asian Perspective in the Management of Polytrauma”

ACT members representing four countries took the virtual stage to share their expertise and regional perspectives:

• Prof. Amit Gupta — (JPNA Trauma Centre / AIIMS New Delhi, India)
• Prof. Narain Chotirosniramit — (Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, Thailand)
• Prof. Kamal Jayasuriya — (District General Hospital Kegalle, Sri Lanka)
• Adj Asst Prof. Raj Kumar Menon — (National University Centre for Trauma, Singapore)

The session highlighted the power of shared clinical decision-making across diverse healthcare systems, and underscored ACT’s mission to build a unified, evidence-based approach to polytrauma management in Asia.

ACT members also contributed to multiple sessions throughout the two-day convention:

• Adj Asst Prof Teo Li-Tserng (Tan Tock Seng Hospital / Central Region Trauma Services, NHG Health) — delivered a lecture on “The Polytrauma Patient with Co-morbidities: Managing Antiplatelets and Anticoagulants in the Modern Trauma Era”
• Prof. Azuddin Mohd Khairy (HTAR, Klang, Malaysia) presented on “Trauma in Special Populations”  addressing the rising challenge of non-standard patient populations in trauma bays

In addition, active members of ACT from the Philippines also shared their perspectives.

• Dr. Aireen Patricia M. Madrid (  delivered a lecture on “Damage Control in Trauma: Principles of Abbreviated Surgery and Physiologic Resuscitation”  covering the cornerstone principles of damage control surgery and direct peritoneal resuscitation in the multiply injured patient.
• Dr. Ma. Corazon Cabanilla-Manuntag contributed to the Tabletop Discussion on Military-Civilian Interoperability, reflecting her expertise across both clinical trauma and disaster preparedness.
• Dr. Ralphtrin Gel B. Hermosisima participated in the Tabletop Discussion on Military-Civilian Interoperability, contributing perspectives on coordinated trauma response in complex scenarios.

ACT congratulates PSST on a successful convention and looks forward to continued collaboration in building stronger trauma systems across Asia. Together, we move forward — one region, one standard of care.
