The Asian Collaboration for Trauma is delighted to announce the successful completion of the Sri Lanka Surgical Congress 2025, which convened a record number of local and international delegates to advance surgical excellence and trauma care in the region. A highlight of the meeting was the launch of the National Trauma Management Course (NTMC) Manual, 2nd Edition, marking a major step forward in standardized trauma training and capacity building across Sri Lanka and South Asia.

Why it matters

The congress underscored strong regional and global partnerships in surgery, uniting experts from multiple colleges and countries to share best practices and elevate patient outcomes in resource-variable settings. The new NTMC edition builds on a program that has already trained thousands of clinicians, supporting safer, more consistent frontline trauma care nationwide

Prof Ranjith N. Ellawala and Prof Kamal Jayasuriya edited the 2nd edition of the manual and have created a comprehensive and easy to read manual with national and international authors providing up to date knowledge on trauma management customised for urban and austere environments.
